Previously unreleased, 'Disappointed' has had the status of 'lost single' until now. Featuring regularly in TIRS live sets during 2015, the song had been intended to be released as a single at the start of 2016 - however work on the track (along with several others) was abandoned as the band entered a 4-year hiatus early that year.
'Disappointed' remained in the ether of incomplete works until 2022, when along with three other tracks ('Crimson', 'The Voice Inside My Head Remains' and 'Repeat to Fade'), it was recovered & finished for inclusion on the forthcoming double album 'This Is Radio Silence' (Disconnected Music, March 2023).
'Disappointed' captures the sound & energy of the 5-piece TIRS line-up of Ben McLees (vocals, guitar), Hunter Barr (keys), Austin Davey (guitar), Geoff Courts (bass) and Dan Vickers (drums).
I'm so glad you're better than me
I'm so glad you're better than everyone
I'm so glad it clearly eats you up inside
Abbreviated ex-patriate
Hyphen cut, blood apostate
Like you own, through broken doors
Prothrombotic lies
So disappointed
Down proboscis, high-brow facade
The 'look at me!' student of Wikipedia
You survey the serfs
Do some rifle research
The hallmarks always give you away
Disappointment, like a sea of voices
Giving misinformed consent
For your library of adverse effects
It's funny how you claim to operate
In circles too high to relate
From here on lower ground
And yet you always look so beaten down
Psychotics shaped like sauria
What you take is what you are
You build a course of obstacles
But you only trip over yourself
So disappointed
The disappointing results
Are always someone else's fault
And you're the disappointing son
Of the disappointed man
Responsibility, you always avoid it when you can
And when there's no-one left to blame
Excuses will be all that remain
As it's always been
It'll always be the same
I'm so glad you're better than me
And I'm so glad you're being eaten up inside by your
Excuses, excuses, excuses, excuses
Excuses, excuses
It's always the same old tired bullshit
It'll always be the same
Because it's always been the same
The disappointing results
Are always someone else's fault
Excuses, excuses
It's always the same old tired bullshit
Excuses are all that remain
Excuses are all that remain
Excuses are all that remain
Excuses are all that remain
